You know when you have a beneficial practice and then as soon as you think you don't need it, you drop it? I usually act all innocent a few months later: "I wonder why I lack so much clarity in my life?" When I know for sure I stopped taking stock of my life (whichever medium I choose). I ain't ending 2019 with that kind of attitude. It's on!
Making: flexible plans. I'm learning that planning is an important factor to success however if plans can be so limiting. They can shut you out of life itself. You could be letting great opportunities pass by just because they are not part of 'your' plan.
Eating: McDonald's Cheesy Jalapeno fries. I don't believe it myself. I have this brand new affair with McDonalds that I refuse to understand. I find it quite a peaceful place to write or chill with friends or watch a movie. I go there for the atmosphere and then I order Jalapeno fries and maybe a muffin. I'm directing a short video clip on that this week.
Drinking: Coffee. Funny how when my life was less hectic I couldn't stomach coffee at all. Proving it's truly a drug we use to copy with life. That being said, I am not quitting coffee anytime soon. Consider me a conscious addict. What's your legal drug of choice?
Reading: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. Published a few years ago yet still relevant.
Wanting: a road trip with my sisters and a hired driver. Unplanned would be perfect.
Playing: 90's music. Nothing like a song to remind one how exciting the journey called life has been. I was amazed at how I could recall the exact moment and place when I first heard each song on 90's playlist. The meaning I placed behind the song and what it means to me now, it all comes back like yesterday.
Creating: a creative life. I got the idea from Big Magic. A truth I wish I knew earlier in life: even when not actively involved in creative work one can be a full blown creative. I remember how frustrating the dry creative spells used to be. How could they not as I translated them as the end of my creative life as I know it?
Wasting: time and internet data. Have you seen how a YouTuber would take 18 minutes just to answer one question? And the real answer is on the 16th minute.
Wishing: you are well, whoever you are and wherever you are.
Enjoying: writing.. I enjoy every bit of it, including the unattractive parts and believe me there are plenty.
Loving: Apple products. I create from the heart, hardly from my mind. This means I can wreck a device in a short space of time. Apple so far understands I work faster than my mind.
Hoping: we stop hoping and start acting on whatever it is that is burning within us and wanting to be born. Provided it's good and beneficial of course.
Marveling: at how the more we change, the more we stay the same. I promise you one day I'll be able to explain in a more sophisticated manner. For now the one sentence is what I got.
Smelling: the crisp clean air just after the rain. We are blessed with soft, romantic rains in Johannesburg. You can't help but take a walk afterwards. Most of MH reader's aren't South African. I'd love to know what you thought of the weather if you've visited?
Wearing: anything that doesn't required an iron. The more minimalist I've become the more productive my life is. It could be a combination of other positive changes I've implemented. A minimalist life is still worth a try though. It would certainly add a few minutes to your day.
Following: the consciousness trail wherever it may lead
Noticing: just how when doing what we truly love, tiredness suddenly is not an issue. A whole mind game our bodies play with us. Whenever the activity is considered as boring by 'the body' then it's immediately translated as fatigue. I shall not be fooled no more.
Knowing: that there's really no rush. I could take my time with literally anything I touch. We are convinced that if it's not done today or figured out today then it's a failure. What a misconception. Wherever you are in life right now, please take it in. En
Feeling: a variety of human emotions. Instead of running after happiness, I embrace human emotions and actively look for lessons in them.
Bookmarking: a bunch of TED talks. My attention span is fussy so 15mins of one subject is a stretch. I keep them aside in hopes I'd watch one day.
Opening: my heart and mind to more life experiences.
Giggling: yes I still think Kansiime Anne is the funniest person in Africa. I'm grateful that she's even allowed us in her journey. I'm more drawn to her now as a person more than I am to the comedian side of her. A true gem.
